BIFMA X5.41

BIFMA X5.41 « Large Occupant Public and Lounge Seating » a été publié le 24 mai 2021 par BIFMA (Business Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association). Cette norme s’applique aux sièges dont l’occupant a une masse corporelle comprise entre 400 lb et 600 lb, ce qui représente une personne aux États-Unis du 99e percentile. BIFMA X5.4 est destiné aux sièges dont l’occupant a une masse corporelle jusqu’à 275 lb. BIFMA X5.41 est divisé en deux niveaux :
- 41-400 pour les utilisateurs de 400 lb et
- 41-600 pour les utilisateurs de 600 lb
En général, BIFMA X5.4 et X5.41 sont similaires puisque les procédures d’essai sont les mêmes. Cependant, la plupart des charges et forces ont été augmentées pour la version BIFMA X5.41. Ainsi, pour que les chaises soient admissibles au BIFMA X5.41, elles doivent avoir une largeur d’assise minimale de 22 pouces pour X5.41-400 et de 26 pouces pour X5.41-600.
Comme dans BIFMA X5.4, il existe quatre « styles » de sièges qui s’appliquent à la fois aux configurations de sièges uniques et multiples :
- Style A : Avec appuis-bras et avec dossier
- Style B : Avec appuis-bras et sans dossier
- Style C : Sans appuis-bras et avec dossier
- Style D : Sans appuis-bras et sans dossier
